Are you currently Rep. Payee for any children currently in placement that receive SSI or RSDI?
Are you currently Rep. Payee for any children currently in placement that receive SSI or RSDI?
If so, where are you depositing the SSI or RSDI funds coming
in from Social Security? Ex: separate checking account for only these
dollars, an account within your general fund, separate fund…
Social Security is indicating to us that these funds need to
be deposited into a separate bank account apart from all other funds.
This is new to us as we have always deposited these funds into a chart of
account within our Human Services fund. So we are wanting to find out how other
counties handle this.
Thanks,

At Wabasha County we have a separate account that SSI/RSDI is deposited in. Once a month when we get the statement from the bank we will do an EFT transfer of the funds to the correct chart of accounts code that we need the funds transferred to.
Mille Lacs has a separate account for Rep Payee accounts. We write checks to our human services monthly.
At Itasca we also have a separate checking account that all Rep Payee funds go into, and checks are issued from. The funds are never co-mingled with our primary checking account.

Cook County has a separate account for Rep Payee accounts also. Our Account Tech will write checks to PHHS monthly to pay fees.
Hello
MN Statute 256.88 and 256.89 require separate accounts for client that you are representative payee. We deposit the funds into our Social Welfare Bank Account which is separate of the general fund. We then pay the County back for cost of care out of that account.

MNPrairie has a separate account for our clients we are rep payee for. All money is deposited into our Social Welfare Fund accounts (one at each site and different banks than where our general fund is located) and then we issue a check monthly back to MNPrairie general fund for cost of care.

Olmsted County has a separate account for Rep Payee funds. We then issue a monthly check back to the County for cost of care.
Pennington County opens an account in the Social Welfare Fund and writes a check back to the county. Social Welfare Fund not a part of the county General Fund.
