I would like to
know how counties handle IT costs. Do you get billed for county
IT staff or do you have your own IT staff or do you contract with an outside
vendor? If you get billed, do you get an hourly bill, pay a
monthly/quarterly fee or something else? Do you receive an itemized
bill? And any other information that might be useful on this subject.

Brown County has their IT dept send Human Services bills for their time and purchases for our dept. Unless they are paying the internet bill (all county bill) in which case IT pays it and then bills us our portion which we do a journal entry paying them back.
We do have one IT person in Human Services however she is more surface stuff IT like Outlook and helping social workers who are having issues with their computer. She also installs new monitors . that type of thing. OUr main IT does the harder stuff life wiring in teh ceiling, setting up software etc.
