Scanned documents resolution

Can you send this question out to the group & post on the blog?

Does any county have a board resolution that says our scanned document is the original document?

If so, could I get a copy of it.

Thanks.

Take a look at Minnesota’s Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) and MN § 325L.12. Together, they provide that electronic records (including scans) satisfy the requirement of an official record and bears the same weight in court as long as they meet certain requirements.

There are few cases where the official record MUST be paper, but they are rare. In the end, it’s not necessarily a decision that needs to be made as a county- the Responsible Authority has the ability to decide which record can be considered the official version.

I hope this helps!
