Hello-
I have a question for the group.
1.
Does your county pay law enforcements to
do transportation? Specifically I am thinking people that are being
transported on a 72 hour hold or back for a commitment hearing?
2.
If you do not pay law enforcement do to this is
there a statute referencing that this is the responsibility of law enforcement?
3.
If you are paying them for transports what kind
of hourly rate, mileage, or combined rate are you paying?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

In Rice County if we are in the process of a commitment the judge will order the transport and the sheriff's department does that. We are not charged for that. If it is a stay of commitment then the individual is responsible.
I was just looking for info on commitments and 72 hour holds recently and the statutes I found were 256G.08, 253b.045.
They both indicated that the County is responsible for costs.
Pretty vague.

At St. Louis County PHHS we contract with General Security Services for our 72 hour hold transports. The service rates & fees are as follows:
Scheduled standard transport (with 24 hour notice) - $19.95 per hr/per officer
Non-scheduled standard transport (less than 24 hours) - $24.95 per hr/per officer
Mileage fee of 55 cents per mile
